I’M A STUDENT IN POLAND, CAN I WORK?

Yes, full-time students can take up employment without the need to obtain a work permit during the validity of their residence document (e.g., visa or residence card). Part-time students must have a work permit or a declaration of intent to entrust work.

MY VISA OR VISA-FREE STAY IS EXPIRING, HOW CAN I EXTEND MY LEGAL STAY IN POLAND?

You can apply for a residence permit but no later than the last day of your legal stay.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ISSUE A PERMIT?

The waiting time depends on the number of applications received by the office and whether a complete set of required documents has been submitted. Work permits are issued as quickly as possible.

I AM A CITIZEN OF ARMENIA, BELARUS, GEORGIA, MOLDOVA, OR UKRAINE, WHAT WORK PERMIT APPLIES TO ME?

The declaration of entrusting work to a foreigner is issued for a period of up to 2 years. The Notification of entrusting work to a Ukrainian citizen also applies to citizens of Ukraine.

WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL YOU NEED?

During the legalization process, you will need to provide various documents depending on your situation.

Here’s a list of essential documents:

1. Foreign passport

  • All pages with annotations.
  • If you have two passports – all pages with annotations from both passports.
  • In the case of missing or blank travel document for a Ukrainian citizen – PESEL in UKR.

2. Residence card + decision

  • All pages of the card and decision.
  • If you are waiting for a residence card – confirmation of application submission. This can be, for example, a stamp in the passport, a confirmation of the case status from the Voivodship Office or confirmation from the post.

3. Current student ID

  • Student ID
  • Confirmation from the university or a diploma of completion of full-time studies (from Poland and the EU).

4. Current school ID

And confirmation from the school or a diploma of completion of post-secondary schools (only Polish schools count).

5. Others

Polish Card + visa, permanent stay/resident/with a Polish citizen, temporary/auxiliary protection, refugee status, stay for humanitarian reasons/tolerated, EU citizen:
