FAQ – Work Legalization

I entered Poland under visa-free travel, can I work?

Yes, after additionally obtaining a work permit.

I am a student in Poland, can I work?

Yes, full-time students can work without a work permit as long as their residence document (e.g., visa or residence card) is valid. Part-time students must have a work permit or a statement of intent to employ.

My visa or visa-free stay is ending. How can I extend my legal stay in Poland?

You can submit an application for a residence permit, but no later than the last day of your legal stay.

How long is the wait for the permit to be issued?

The waiting time depends on the number of applications submitted to the office and whether a complete set of required documents has been provided. Work permits are issued as quickly as possible.

I am a citizen of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, or Ukraine. Which work permit applies to me?

The Statement on Entrusting Work to a Foreigner is issued for up to 2 years. Ukrainian citizens are also subject to the Notification of Entrusting Work to a Ukrainian Citizen.

Do I have to submit the application for a work permit myself?

No, we will do it for you.

I want to apply for aTemporary Residence and Work Permit, can I get the necessary documents?

What documents will you need?

During the legalization process, you will need to provide various documents depending on your situation. At each stage, we will indicate what formalities you need to complete to ensure the entire process goes smoothly and without unnecessary delays.

Work legalization: required documents

Here is a list of the required documents:

1. Foreign passport

  • All pages with annotations.
  • If you have two passports – all pages with annotations from both passports.
  • If the Ukrainian citizen has no travel document or it is blank – PESEL in UKR.

2. Residence card + decision

  • All pages of the card and decision.
  • If you are waiting for your residence card – confirmation of application submission. This could be, for example, a stamp in your passport, a certificate of case status from the Voivodeship Office, or confirmation from the post office.

3. Valid student ID

  • Student ID
  • Certificate from your studies or diploma of graduation from a full-time program (from Poland or the EU).

4. Valid school ID

and a certificate from the school or a diploma of graduation from a post-secondary school (only Polish schools count).

5. Others

Polish Card + visa, permanent residence/resident/with a Polish citizen, temporary/supplementary protection, refugee status, stay for humanitarian/tolerated reasons, EU citizen:

  • Document + decision – all pages.
