Working at Wolt has become one of the most sought-after forms of flexible earning in Polish cities. A Wolt courier is a person who delivers food and shopping orders on behalf of the Wolt app, moving around the city by the transport method of their choice. For many, it’s an additional source of income alongside a regular job or studies; for others—it’s the main source of revenue with real earning potential. The Wolt work model is fully flexible: each courier chooses their own hours, combines work with other responsibilities, and earnings are directly linked to the number of deliveries made.

This guide shows what day-to-day work at Wolt looks like—from logging into the app, through earning strategies, to settlements. It’s a combination of logistics, time management, and customer service, especially when you work with an experienced fleet partner such as Avalon Logistics.

Who is a Wolt courier and how do they start their day?

A Wolt courier is a person responsible for transporting ordered food or groceries from the store to the customer. On a daily basis, they face challenges related to urban logistics, time management, and handling different types of orders. Couriers start work in an extremely simple way—exactly when they want to.

A Wolt courier’s day begins with:

  • logging in to the Wolt Courier Partner app,
  • choosing whether to work in “online” mode—which means being ready to accept orders,
  • strategically positioning themselves in “hotspots”, i.e. areas with a high volume of orders,
  • preparing their vehicle, thermal bag, and smartphone for work.

Unlike traditional jobs, a Wolt courier doesn’t need to show up at a set time or work a full 8 hours. They can log in for 2 hours around lunchtime, log out, and then return in the evening at peak demand. This makes Wolt work attractive to students, retirees, and even full-time employees looking for extra income.

A Wolt courier working with a fleet partner such as Avalon Logistics has another advantage: formalities and contact with the app are simplified, and the partner handles settlements and taxes. The courier can therefore focus only on what counts most—efficient work and earning.

Logging into the Wolt Courier Partner app – the start of a session

Working with Wolt starts by downloading the Wolt Courier Partner app on an Android or iOS device. Once logged in, the courier sees an intuitive interface with the main “Go Online” button.

Key elements a Wolt courier sees on the screen:

  • a map with current location and Wolt’s service area in that city,
  • information about whether the app has access to location services (necessary for correct operation),
  • a switch to toggle online/offline status,
  • a panel showing current orders and earnings for the session,
  • the ability to contact Wolt support in case of questions or problems.

After pressing “Go Online”, the Wolt courier:

  • becomes available to the system assigning orders,
  • the app starts sending them delivery offers depending on their location,
  • can watch as the first order comes in.

The process is simple but has one important consequence: from the moment you go online, the Wolt app tracks every move of the courier. That’s why it’s worth logging in at a good location—a “hotspot” with lots of restaurants and customers.

Work at Wolt: courier during delivery

Hotspots – delivery map and best zones for Wolt couriers

Hotspots are areas in a given city where the highest number of orders are concentrated. Wolt clearly defines which areas couriers can operate in and which ones are outside the app’s coverage, where they won’t receive orders.

On the Wolt Partners page, each city has a visualization:

  • Blue zone – this is the area where a Wolt courier receives orders; all restaurants, shops, and customers in this part of the city can be served,
  • Pink zone – these are hotspots, meaning the areas with the highest order intensity; a courier who starts a session in such a place gets the first order more quickly.

Typical hotspots include:

  • large shopping centers (concentrating restaurants and customers),
  • office districts (high demand during lunch hours),
  • residential neighborhoods with high building density,
  • major intersections and shopping streets.

Each city has a different hotspot map. For example, in Warsaw, hotspots are located in the center (Śródmieście), business districts (Mirów, Mokotów), and densely built-up residential areas. A Wolt courier who knows the hotspot map can minimize waiting time for the first order. Sometimes the difference between being in a “hot” or a “cold” spot is 5–10 minutes for the first run – which translates to real earnings throughout the day.

Can I work in a city other than my default one?

One of the practical questions Wolt couriers ask is about changing their city. By default, the app assigns a courier to their registration city, but Wolt allows you to work in another city upon request.

To change the city, a Wolt courier should:

  • log in to the Wolt Courier Partner app,
  • go to the “Support” section,
  • select the “Account information and changes” option,
  • click on “Change phone number / email”,
  • in the description field, enter a specific request to change the city.

Wolt does not have a dedicated option for changing the city in the app menu – this must be done by submitting a support request. After submitting the request, the Wolt team will verify your data and usually activate the possibility to work in the selected city within a few days. This solution is useful for those who work in a different city or want to occasionally go to another location for varying earnings.

Wolt Courier Equipment – vehicle, bag, smartphone

Without proper equipment, working for Wolt is a hassle instead of a way to earn money. The equipment is both a work tool and the courier’s most important investment.

Most popular choices:

Bicycle – the cheapest option, great in traffic jams, ideal for city centers; requires cleanliness and regular maintenance, minimal upkeep cost.

Electric bicycle – ideal for intensive work; reduces fatigue, allows for faster travel over longer distances; requires battery charging (electricity cost is minimal).

Electric scooter – good for short routes in dense areas; moves quickly but has a smaller cargo capacity.

Scooter or motorcycle – fast travel, independence from weather; higher fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs.

Car – maximum comfort and weather protection; high fuel costs, parking, greater vehicle wear; sometimes less profitable in city centers because of traffic jams.

Essential equipment for working at Wolt:

  • Thermal bag – high quality, insulated; keeps food at the right temperature, and protects packages from damage,
  • Smartphone – with a powerful battery, constant Internet access, and geolocation enabled,
  • Powerbank – in case your phone runs out of battery during a session,
  • Phone holder – for navigation, safety on a bike or scooter,
  • Season-appropriate clothing – rain jacket, gloves, shoes with good tread, reflectors for visibility,
  • Tools – if you use a bike, a basic kit comes in handy (pump, patches, multitool).

Avalon Logistics also supports Wolt couriers when it comes to equipment – offering vehicle rental (electric bikes, scooters, cars) for work with Wolt, as well as assistance with organizing starter equipment without unnecessary formal complications. This solution is ideal for those who want to sign up with Wolt but don’t have their own vehicle.

Positioning and Order Assignment Algorithm

After logging in, the Wolt courier appears on the map. The Wolt algorithm analyzes the location of every active courier and assigns orders depending on distance, availability time, and past performance.

Positioning secrets:

  • The Wolt algorithm favors couriers who are close to restaurants and customers – the closer you are, the faster you deliver, and the higher you’ll be in the assignment queue,
  • Choosing a good location = faster first order; a 100 meter difference can mean getting the order 5 minutes earlier,
  • Wolt sees the courier’s history – response times, customer ratings, delivery speed; better couriers get jobs sooner,
  • “Hot” hours and zones – during peak demand (lunch 12–14, dinner 18–20) the algorithm assigns more orders at once.

A Wolt courier working with Avalon Logistics has access to practical tips on when and where to position themselves. A fleet partner knows in which hours there is heavy traffic in a given city, where it’s worth heading to a “dead zone,” or when to change the day’s logic. This knowledge is based on the experience of dozens of active couriers.

What Does a Single Wolt Order Look Like?

When a Wolt courier is online and in a good location, the app starts sending order offers. Each order has a structure that the courier must quickly learn, as there are only a few seconds to decide.

Order Offer

The app displays:

  • Pickup point – the restaurant or store where the order is to be collected,
  • Delivery point – the exact (masked for privacy) customer address,
  • Approximate distance – kilometers between pickup and delivery,
  • Approximate fee – how much the Wolt courier will earn for this trip,
  • Fee icon – if it’s a cash order, Wolt will display a special icon with the “Cash” label.

Important: the courier has only a few seconds to decide whether to accept or decline the order. After accepting, changing the decision is only possible through Wolt support (with a potential penalty of lower ranking).

Declining Orders – One of the Perks of Working with Wolt

Wolt allows couriers to decline an order as soon as it appears. This is a big difference compared to some competing apps. A Wolt courier can decline a job due to:

  • distance too long in relation to the payment,
  • cash on delivery (if the courier does not want to handle cash at the moment),
  • direction contrary to the plan, route or weather.

After rejection, the app displays the next order. There is no penalty for rejecting orders—this is one of the elements of flexibility at Wolt, which couriers greatly appreciate.

Working at Wolt: how to start working

Stages of order fulfillment

1. Getting to the restaurant/store

After accepting a delivery, the Wolt courier sees the pickup address in the app. The map shows the route, but experienced couriers rely on their city knowledge—they know shortcuts, avoid traffic jams, and are familiar with “passages” between streets.

2. Collecting the order

The courier enters the restaurant, goes up to the counter (or to the back room, depending on the location):

  • identifies with the order code from the app,
  • or gives the name of the customer who placed the order,
  • receives a package or a bag with food,
  • quickly checks if the package looks complete and nothing has leaked.

The speed at this stage depends on the restaurant—sometimes the food is ready, sometimes you have to wait 2–3 minutes. Wolt sends a notification to the customer that the courier has picked up the order, which increases trust.

3. Securely packing the order

The food goes into a thermal bag. The Wolt courier must:

  • arrange the order so it doesn’t move during the ride,
  • place hot meals on the bottom, cold on top (if together),
  • secure fries, drinks, and sensitive packaging,
  • make sure the bag’s cover is tightly closed.

Quick and proper packing = fewer neglected orders, better ratings, more orders assigned by the algorithm.

4. Getting to the customer

The app map guides the courier to the delivery address. Experienced Wolt couriers know where the building is, which floor the apartment or office is on, and where to safely park the vehicle. If there are address issues, the courier contacts the customer via the app (chat) or by phone.

5. Delivery and settlement

Upon arrival, the courier:

  • rings the doorbell or messages the customer,
  • hands over the order,
  • confirms in the app that the delivery was completed (“Complete Delivery”).

The system automatically calculates the earnings for the delivery. The customer can see in their app that the order has arrived, and they can add a rating and a tip.

Cash Orders in Wolt – How Does It Work?

One of the newer conveniences in Wolt is cash orders. These are orders that the customer wants to pay for with cash instead of a card or digital wallet.

How to identify a cash order?

Wolt displays a special icon with the word “Cash” on the order proposal. When a Wolt courier sees this icon, they know they will need to collect money from the customer and give change (if necessary).

Cash Handling Rules

Key rule: Cash flows only between the courier and the customer. Never pay at the restaurant!

Steps:

  1. At the restaurant: the courier picks up the order as usual – without paying.
  2. With the customer: the courier asks for the cash amount, the customer pays, and the courier gives change.
  3. After delivery: the courier has a set amount of time (usually a few hours) to deposit the cash using the AirCash app.

Preparing to Handle Cash Orders

To work with cash orders, a Wolt courier must:

1. Download the AirCash app

AirCash is a system that enables you to safely make cash deposits. It is available on Android and iOS.

2. Create an account in AirCash

The AirCash account MUST be registered with the same email address as the Wolt Partner account. This is important for the correct linking of accounts.

3. Top up your account

In the AirCash app, the courier makes a transfer or pays via BLIK to their account. This is their own money, which the courier will later pay back to Wolt as cash deposit from orders.

4. Find your Courier ID

To make a deposit in AirCash, the courier must know their Courier ID in Wolt. Where to find it?

  • Wolt Courier Partner → Wolt Support → Account Information/Change Data → My Courier ID

or

  • Wolt Courier Partner → Wolt Support → Cash Orders → Cash Orders – How to do offloading
Work at Wolt: Air Cash app

Process of Depositing Cash via AirCash

  1. The courier opens the AirCash app.
  2. Click “Rynek” → select “Wolt”.
  3. In the “Username” field, ALWAYS ENTER YOUR COURIER ID (not your name or nickname).
  4. Enter the amount of cash to deposit.
  5. Confirm the transaction.

The cash is credited to the Wolt account, and the courier receives a receipt in AirCash for the deposit made.

How much cash should you carry?

To work conveniently with cash orders, a Wolt courier should carry at least 45 PLN in small coins and banknotes. This will allow them to give change to every customer without any problems.

Important limit: If the cash balance in Wolt exceeds 300 PLN, the app will automatically go offline. This means the courier stops receiving orders. To resume work, they must deposit money via AirCash and reduce their cash balance below this threshold.

Combined orders – how Wolt couriers maximize their earnings

Wolt sometimes assigns couriers combined orders — two or more orders at the same time. These may include:

  • two orders from the same restaurant (the courier goes there once, takes both, delivers them sequentially),
  • orders from neighboring restaurants in a similar direction (the courier picks them up in sequence and delivers in the optimal order).

How does Wolt display combined orders?

Modern versions of the app clearly indicate when orders are combined:

  • one route is displayed with information about two pickup points and the total fee,
  • in the summary it’s one item, but the courier knows there are two separate meals to deliver.

Sometimes an extra order appears “on the go”

It happens that a Wolt courier accepts one order, and on the way to the restaurant the app displays another one that can be well coordinated with the first. This gives the courier the opportunity to earn on back-to-back orders without waiting.

Advantages of combined orders

  • Fewer trips — the courier goes to the restaurant once and completes two deliveries,
  • Better hourly earnings — two payments instead of one in the same time,
  • Route optimization — if the orders are going in similar directions, the whole process is more efficient.

A Wolt courier who skillfully handles combined orders will soon notice that these are responsible for a significant part of their daily earnings.

Rank and bonus system in Wolt

Wolt has a ranking system for couriers, which affects the number of orders assigned and access to special promotions.

What is a rank?

Rank is the level at which a courier is determined based on:

  • Customer ratings — the more 5-star ratings, the higher the rank,
  • Speed of accepting orders – couriers who respond quickly to offers are more valued,
  • Acceptance rate – if a courier accepts most offers, the algorithm rewards them,
  • Consistency – regular work and stable results raise rank.

What are the effects of a higher rank?

  • Earlier access to the calendar – higher-ranked couriers can book work hours before others,
  • Better access to bonuses and challenges – promotions and extra bonuses aimed at the most active,
  • Greater earning predictability – higher rank = more orders during demand peaks,
  • Priority in assignment – the algorithm prefers high-rank couriers when there are multiple options.
Praca w Wolt: bonusy

Bonuses and challenges in Wolt

Wolt regularly offers:

  • Hourly bonuses – e.g. 15% extra for each delivery between 12:00 and 14:00 on weekdays,
  • Weekly challenges – “Make 50 deliveries this week, you’ll get an extra 10 PLN”,
  • Ratings bonuses – if a courier maintains an average of 4.9+, they receive an extra bonus.

A Wolt courier who tracks these promotions and plans their sessions around them can significantly increase their earnings.

Costs and finances – real earnings of a Wolt courier

The app shows the gross amount for each delivery. But the real “net in the wallet” is something else. A Wolt courier must take costs into account.

Main cost items:

  • Fuel (if using car/scooter): depends on fuel station prices and vehicle fuel efficiency,
  • Battery charging (if using electric bike): electricity cost is very low (several dozen groszy for a full charge),
  • Vehicle maintenance: tires, brakes, chains (bike), inspections, repairs,
  • Equipment depreciation: bike, scooter, car wear out over time,
  • Vehicle insurance: mandatory for cars, optional for bikes,
  • Thermal bag: a high-quality bag costs 150–300 PLN, but lasts several years,
  • Fleet partner commission (if cooperating with Avalon Logistics): set in advance, usually 15–30% of revenue,
  • Taxes: depends on settlement form (self-employment, employment contract, contract of mandate).

Example day of a Wolt courier

Let’s assume the Wolt courier works 6 hours (12–18, then 19–20):

  • completed 20 deliveries at an average of 12–15 PLN per delivery,
  • gross revenue: 20 × 13.50 = 270 PLN,
  • costs: fuel (~15 PLN), vehicle wear (depreciation, ~20 PLN), partner commission (if 20% = 54 PLN),
  • net revenue: 270 – 15 – 20 – 54 = 181 PLN for 7 hours = ~26 PLN/h.

If the courier works in peaks and completes 25 deliveries (thanks to bundled orders), the revenue can rise to 330 PLN gross, and about 220 PLN net (31 PLN/h). The difference is significant.

How to control costs?

A Wolt courier should:

  • Track income and expenses – even with a simple notebook: how much they earned, how much they spent on fuel, maintenance,
  • Regularly service the vehicle – prevention saves money in the long run,
  • Optimize routes – fast delivery = less fuel, more orders in the same time,
  • Work during “peak” hours – pay per order increases at peak times while costs stay the same.

Summary – working at Wolt without secrets

Earnings at Wolt are possible, but depend on effort, strategy, and the chosen city. A courier who works smartly, limits costs, and leverages the knowledge of an experienced fleet partner can build a stable source of income.

Cooperation with Avalon Logistics means the paperwork is already taken care of, and the partner will always advise when to work and how to maximize your revenue. That’s the difference between “earning on the side” and having a regular, organized job.
