The work of a courier using an app is mostly associated with the number of deliveries and the amount visible in the app. However, when a service contract, taxes and ZUS for courier come into play, it can easily become a source of unnecessary stress. Don’t worry, the most important thing to know is that deductions are not the same for everyone. They depend mainly on your age, student status, and whether you also work elsewhere.
Before you start worrying about a lower salary, read this article and in a few minutes you’ll learn where the deductions come from, how much they can be, and when you may be eligible for 0% deductions. Below, we explain why your payout amount differs from what you see in the app and what solutions Avalon Logistics offers.
Changes in Uber Eats and Wolt – what’s happening and why?
The rules described currently apply to couriers making deliveries in the Uber Eats and Wolt apps. These changes stem from new EU regulations and the way platforms handle cooperation settlements.
This is a process that will be introduced gradually, other courier apps will also switch to a similar settlement model based on service contracts, taxes, and ZUS contributions.
The most important change: settlement under a service contract
For couriers delivering with Uber Eats and Wolt, settlements will be based on a service contract (umowa zlecenie). From August 31, 2026, the accepted forms of settlements for couriers will be service contract and B2B cooperation.
In practice, this means that:
- the settlement is based on a service contract;
- the amount visible in the app is the gross amount;
- mandatory contributions and tax may be deducted from your remuneration;
- it is not possible to settle cost invoices, e.g., for fuel, repairs, parts, or equipment;
- we do not process reimbursement of income-earning costs;
This is a standard settlement model that will also be gradually implemented by other courier applications.
Amount in the app is gross
The amount you see in your courier app is the gross amount. This is the value before the deduction of mandatory contributions and taxes.
The amount that lands in your account is the net amount, meaning what you receive “in hand.” The difference results from the settlement under a service contract and may include, among others, ZUS contributions and income tax advance payment.
This does not mean that every courier gives up the same amount. The amount of deductions is determined individually based on each situation.

Where do the differences come from?
Many people compare their payout with the earnings of a fellow courier. It’s important to remember that such comparisons often don’t make sense—two people may work the same amount but receive different amounts in their accounts.
The factors include, among others:
- courier’s age;
- student or pupil status;
- other employment, e.g., a full-time job or a second service contract;
- obligation to pay specific contributions;
- individual tax situation.
That’s why it’s worth providing a complete set of true information before signing the documents. This way, your settlement will be correct from the start and you’ll avoid later corrections.

A contract of mandate also means benefits
Taxes and contributions are often perceived only as a cost. However, a contract of mandate also provides specific safeguards that you don’t get with regular settlements without a formal agreement.
You can gain:
- a record of legal income, useful for example when applying for a loan or renting an apartment;
- pension contributions that build your insurance history;
- health insurance in situations where you are subject to the relevant contributions;
- greater transparency of earnings and settlements;
- support with formalities related to legal employment in Poland.
Most importantly: you don’t have to guess by yourself which rules apply specifically to you. If you have questions, it’s worth getting in touch with the support team and clarifying your situation before you start settling accounts.
One free settlement per month
Good news for couriers: at Avalon Logistics, one settlement per month is free of charge. We do not charge a settlement fee for the first settlement in a given month.
Please note, however, that the “0 PLN settlement fee” rule does not apply to additional settlements within the same month. If you choose an additional settlement, a fee will be charged in accordance with the current price list.

Instant Pay – payout without waiting
We know that for a courier, it’s not only the amount of earnings that matters, but also quick access to money. That’s why we offer Instant Pay – the opportunity for faster fund payouts for couriers.
Avalon Logistics is the only fleet partner in Poland that offers couriers Instant Pay. Thanks to this, you can manage your budget more conveniently and not wait for the standard settlement date if you need funds earlier.
The Instant Pay service is an additional option – you’ll get details of how it works and any possible requirements from the support team or read about it on our website.
Don’t stress – ask before your payout
ZUS and taxes don’t have to be complicated. The most important thing is to understand one thing: the gross amount in the app won’t always match the amount transferred, because the settlement depends on your situation.
If you are under 26 and are still studying, the deduction might be 0%. If you work elsewhere or you’re over 26, contributions and taxes may be higher – but they are still calculated according to clear rules.
Do you have questions about your payout, student status, ZUS, or Instant Pay? Write to us or contact customer support – we’re here for you. We’ll help you understand your settlement step by step so you can calmly continue working as a courier.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the changes apply to Uber Eats and Wolt couriers?
Yes. The described rules apply to couriers working with Uber Eats and Wolt through Avalon Logistics. The changes result from new regulations and will gradually extend to other courier applications as well.
Can I still work as an Uber Eats or Wolt courier?
Yes. In order to continue cooperation, you must complete the required formalities and sign a contract of mandate. If you receive a message from us regarding documents, please follow the steps indicated in the message. If you haven’t received any information, your documentation may already be complete.
What does a contract of mandate mean for a courier?
It means that your earnings will be settled legally based on a contract of mandate. Mandatory ZUS contributions and tax may be deducted from your pay, depending on your age, student status, and whether you also work elsewhere.
What does the gross amount in the app mean?
The amount shown in the Uber Eats or Wolt app is the gross amount, meaning before tax and ZUS contributions are deducted. You will receive the net amount in your account – after the mandatory deductions relevant to your situation.
Will my earnings be taxed?
Yes, remuneration under the contract of mandate may be reduced by ZUS contributions and other mandatory deductions. However, not every courier will pay the same amount – the deductions depend on your individual situation.
| Courier’s situation | Estimated deduction |
|---|---|
| Under 26 years old, pupil or student | 0% |
| Under 26 years old, also employed elsewhere | 9% |
| Under 26 years old, not employed elsewhere | 19.25% |
| Over 26 years old, also employed elsewhere | 18.72% |
| Over 26 years old, not employed elsewhere | 27.82% |
I am a student and under 26 – will I receive the full amount of my earnings?
If you are under 26 years old and have pupil or student status, the deduction rate is 0%. In practice, this means your gross pay may be equal to your net pay, i.e. the amount paid to your account.
Can I settle invoices for fuel, parts, or equipment?
No. When settling under a contract of mandate, it is not possible to claim cost invoices, e.g. for fuel, repairs, parts, phone, or equipment. We also do not offer reimbursement for income-related expenses.
Can I issue invoices to the fleet partner’s VAT number?
No. Once you switch to settlement based on a contract of mandate, you will not be able to issue invoices to Avalon Logistics’ VAT number. A similar model will gradually be introduced throughout the delivery industry.
Can I receive my payout faster?
